What isn’t Composting?

Dehydrating the waste (ie. drying the waste using heat), rotting by anaerobic bacteria (no need of oxygen to be present) or any other process that doesn’t produce a chemically stable and ready to use compost.

Scientific treatment of Biodegradable Waste -A necessity?

Merely removing water in waste without properly breaking down the Nitrogen molecules in it will result in a complete breakdown of producing a chemically stable and ready to use compost. By artificial heating wet waste as against the built up of natural heat will merely result in a charred substance and will not result in nutrient rich compost   

Microbial process in composting

“Aerobic” composting, means composting with oxygen loving microbes. Composting without oxygen is called “anaerobic”. Both systems will break down organic matter, but aerobic composting is generally faster and easier to manage. Most importantly, anaerobic decomposition creates objectionable odors and hence it is better to stick with oxygen loving aerobic microbes.

Three classes of bacteria will go to work for you in your aerobic pile:

 

  • Psychrophiles – Low temperature bacteria
  • Mesophiles – Medium temperature bacteria
  • Thermophiles – High temperature bacteria

Process

The process takes no short cuts and follows the complete principles of science of composting – From shredding, conveying to the sanitization bins, churning, and optional addon liquid fertilizers generating treatment in the annelids -bio reactor. All to produce high quality compost.
